I have lots of editing still to do, but I wanted to show off a few of my favorites from Saturday.

I had a few people ask me if I can design Christmas cards for them, so I’ve decided to offer the service to everyone. You can see a few samples of my designs here, if you’re interested. Prices: Option 1: Option 2: In either case, you can provide the text, or choose one of my options:
These aren’t templates: they’ll be designed by me after I see your pics. (These prices are for one-sided cards. If you want a folding card, just add $5.) If you want a two-sided card, add whatever the first side cost. (It’s the same as designing two cards.) I can order the cards for you, with prices starting at $35 per set of 25. For those of you who would prefer to order them yourselves, here are a few companies that I have ordered from and been satisfied with, in no particular order: (The last two are as close to pro labs as a consumer can get on their own. I haven’t compared prices, so definitely check them out!) I believe they all have templates available, if you decide not to go the custom route, and they offer both flat and folded cards; I’m fairly certain they all include envelopes. They’re all running different promotions, so be sure to look for discount codes, both on the sites themselves, and in Google! You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty. You know someone. I guarantee it. I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $600 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season. Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $100 credit (enough to cover a free mini-session and a $25 print credit). What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people? The rules: * You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.) * The nominee must reside in Texas. They must be able to travel to the DFW Metroplex for their session. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well. * You must e-mail me the full story : nominations@hisandherscreative.com. The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve and all entries must be received by December 17th at midnight – get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries! Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine. With love, Carole Hayes : ) ps If anyone wants to sponsor additional winners, please contact me at: sponsor@hisandherscreative.com I would LOVE to make this giveaway even bigger! : ) I’ve gotten several inquiries, just over the last couple of days, for mini-sessions. (Apparently, people want pics for Christmas cards. Who knew? I’ll be doing these mini-sessions at Watters Creek shopping center, at Bethany and Central, in Allen. (See Luisa’s family pics, if you want to see what the location looks like.) I charge $75 for a 30-minute session. I’ll give you all of the good pictures that we get, fully edited, with special, artistic treatments on a few of my favorites. I’ll upload the full-size photos, within a few of days of the shoot, to a site where you can download them. When all of the editing is complete, I’ll put them on a disc for you. You should definitely have them all in about a week. Also, if you have any friends who are interested in getting photos done, I’ll be happy to give you referral credits! If someone you refer books a mini-session, I’ll give you $10 off your session; if they book a *FULL session, I’ll give you $50 off of yours! (*Please email me for details on full sessions.) They need to tell me you referred them when they contact me to book their session. Here are the slots I’m offering: Saturday (Nov 21) Morning: 11:00 - 11:30 - booked (Smith family) Saturday (Nov 21) Afternoon: Sunday (Nov 22) Morning: Sunday Afternoon: 4:20 - 4:50 - booked (tentative - DevilDocWife)I require a $25 deposit to hold a time slot. (I accept cash, checks, and Paypal, if you pay the fees.) Wanted: My perfect clients. You appreciate that I do more than just “press a button.” Maybe you think you don’t look good in pictures—until I show you that you do. You like me, and maybe even think I’m funny; at the very least, you find that I’m easy to be around, and I put you at ease. You are happy to pay what I’m asking, and maybe even think (whether you tell me or not) that I ought to be charging MORE money.
You love that I capture you with many different expressions, and that I get an insane amount of detail shots at your wedding, because you love detail shots as much as I do. You are so in love with my pictures that you want them all in an album, and you want some of them blown HUGE to put on display. You want mini albums, and accordion-fold prints, and calendars, and you want to know what else we can put the photos on, because you love them so much that you want to see them everywhere! You’re thrilled with my print and product prices, because you’ve heard how much more other people are charging.
You love that I can’t stand to process every picture the same way: you actually enjoy the variety as much as I do, and can’t wait to see what I’ve done with your pics. You love them so much that you post them on Facebook/your blog/your website/MySpace/whatever, to show them to everyone who will look!
I would rather not have anyone who:
- looks at my favorite photo and says, “but your white balance is off!”
- is annoyed by a wordy website. (Sometimes it takes a lot of words to say what I mean!)
- prefers stiffly posed traditional photos, or who prefers to have their photos taken in a studio.
- wants to haggle over pricing, or try to make me feel that I’m charging too much.
- will take my gift of web-sized images and try to print them rather than purchasing prints.
I promise I will do my best to give you more than you expect from me. I’ll be as non-threatening as possible, so you can relax and be yourself with me. I’ll be self-deprecating, and do my best to be funny (no promises there, though!), and I’ll smile a LOT. I’ll answer any questions you ask me, personal or no, and I’ll try to come up with some to ask you, even while I’m distracted by technical stuff.
I promise I’ll get photos of you that even YOU will like, even if you don’t normally like how you look in pictures. And if I don’t, I promise I’ll give you your money back. : )
On the website, that is. . . . I’ve found a blog design that I like quite a bit, provided I can figure out how to tweak it to meet our needs. Do you like it? : ) Our text still needs a lot of work, and I’m planning on working on that over the next few days. I’m thinking of doing away with the separate photography/videography pages, and making them into one combined page called services. What do you think? (I was thinking of trying to do an iframe with tabs for each. That would be nice, right??) We’ve been joining professional organizations over the last couple of months, both for networking and for the resources they provide, and it occurred to me yesterday that I ought to put some of those logos on the site, so I added them to the About page. Do you think that’s where they belong, or do they deserve their own page?? Anyway, it’s coming along, albeit slowly. . . . Stay tuned for more! : ) Trivia and Cedric had a beautiful wedding at the Japanese Gardens, in Fort Worth. It was a super-hot day, and the sun was unforgiving, but we got some great pictures anyway! (It helps to have a photogenic couple, and gorgeous scenery….) : )
Here are a few of my favorites:
